About HighDesertMarines

The High Desert Marines organization was founded on February 3, 2007 by Sergeant Major (ret.) Sal Navarro, our first Commander. 
Our second Commander was Frank Alaniz. Our third Commander was Tim Hille who served from 2011-2020. Tim started his tenure with a little more than $300 and grew it into more than $20,000. Our fourth Commander was Floyd Foster who served from 2020 to 2023.  Our fifth and current commander is Larry Avalos.

The High Desert Marines is a nonprofit public benefit California corporation whose proceeds benefit the Barstow Veterans Home, Vets for Veterans, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Apple Valley Young Marines, Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 2924, American Legion Post 229, Semper-Fi Fund, Quilts of Valor, AMVETS of Victorville and other local charities.
